Our History


The Mission College Symphony formed in January of 2007 by Joseph Ordaz and gave its first performance in April 2007 at the Mission College 30th Anniversary celebration. The first full concert was presented in May 2007 and a full concert has been presented each semester since. In December 2010, the first Holiday Concert was presented in collaboration with the Mission College Chorus. The first chamber music concert was presented by the MCS in May 2011, and in July 2011 the orchestra performed in the Santa Clara Summer concert series at Central Park.

Summer Concert

The orchestra has performed works of composers of all periods, including works by Vivaldi, Telemann, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, Copland and others. It has presented three world premieres and soloists have included orchestra members and student soloists. Members of the orchestra include high school and college students, working adults, retirees, and local professionals.
